POLICY CHANGE for 2022: We are no longer automatically giving 20% of the online giving for the week of a communion service to the mission project for the year. If you are giving online and would like for your donation or part of your donation to go to something specific, please make a note clearly specifying which cause you would like to support. Online banking pages generally have a place to note the purpose of a transfer.
Question: “How can I give to specific project?”
Currently we have 3 separate projects that you can specify when giving.
When you are giving online:
- If you make a note for “Tent of Nations”, it goes to this project:
The Tent of Nations is a small family-owned farm located southwest of Bethlehem. With the mission of building bridges between people, and between people and the land, the Tent of Nationas brings different cultures together to develop understanding and promote respect for each other. One the following page you can find an update or two about the Tent of Nations, and you can also find out more at http://www.tentofnations.org/about/about-us/
- If you make a note for “A-Z project”, it goes to this project:
Beginning in February, we are supporting a local outreach, called “A-Z”. This is for the Hungarian words “alsónemű” and “zokni”. (translation: underwear and socks). The plan is to raise money for these much-needed items, buy them in bulk, and then give them to shelters in Budapest. To give to this note, “A-Z project” on your bank transfer or give in the basket on the communion table.
- If you make a note for “Refugees”, it goes to this project:
St. Columba’s Refugee Outreach is an effort to address the needs of people fleeing the violence in Ukraine. What started as an overnight shelter is now a growing food bank, and as needs change, we might develop other responses.
